Corn Marketing Program of Michigan Estimates Strong Yield Potential for 2020 Crop
LANSING – The Corn Marketing Program of Michigan (CMPM) today announced a statewide yield estimate of 180 bushels per acre for Michigan’s 2020 corn crop. The estimate is based on more than 330 field checks conducted by CMPM staff and FFA volunteers in the month of August. The statewide yield is weighted to account for the percentage of statewide production that comes from each county.
The yield checks are part of CMPM’s annual Between the Rows Tour. This year, results were presented to an audience of farmers at three virtual events that included trade market updates from the U.S. Grains Council, along with agronomy and disease updates from researchers at Michigan State University.
