EPA Continues to Undermine the Renewable Fuel Standard

Statement from Michigan Corn Growers Association President Matt Frostic

“Today, we are disappointed that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) did not implement the details that were presented and outlined by President Trump last week. The President made a promise to uphold the Congressional intent of the RFS by addressing the demand destruction brought on by expanded use of small refinery exemptions. Today’s announcement falls well short of that mark. Any proposal that does not account for actual waived gallons under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) fails to restore the integrity of the law.

It’s time for the administration to move beyond words and start implementing the promises made by the President. The Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA) will continue to fight back against this demand destruction. We need a final 2020 Renewable Volume Obligation that reflects the commitments made by the President to restore the integrity of the RFS to the benefit of farmers and consumers everywhere.”

The Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA) is a grassroots organization of grower members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production.  The MCGA is the only organization in Michigan that works solely on behalf of the state’s corn growers for pro-agriculture legislation. The MCGA works to ensure that corn growers’ voices are heard at the local, state and national levels. Find out more online at www.micorn.org.
