LANSING – Michigan Corn Growers Association President Matt Frostic today made the following statement in response to the announcement that the White House and Congress are moving forward with the necessary legislative steps to ratify the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

“Passing the USMCA has been a top legislative priority for Michigan farmers this year and today’s announcement is an important step toward achieving that goal. Mexico and Canada are our closest neighbors and our top export markets for corn and ethanol respectively. After a rough year for Michigan agriculture, the passage of USMCA would be some much-needed good news that would provide some certainty and stability in agricultural trade.

“MCGA appreciates the bipartisan work that went into reaching this agreement and we urge Congress to act swiftly to pass the USMCA.”
