The U.S. House of Representatives voted 218 to 203 today to pass H.R. 1346, the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which would allow for year-round sales of E15. In response, Michigan Corn Growers Association President John Delmotte released the following statement:
“Michigan’s corn farmers are thrilled to see E15 legislation pass the House today and want to thank the Representatives from Michigan who voted to support our farmers and consumers.
“Allowing year-round sales of E15 is critical for corn farmers and rural communities, particularly as our growers continue to face a tough economic outlook driven by high input costs that seem to keep growing. This legislation will also help drivers across the state who could save 10 to 30 cents per gallon on gas at a time when prices at the pump have risen dramatically.
“We urge the Senate to quickly pass this bill and send it to the president’s desk for his signature.”
