LANSING, Mich. — MI Corn PAC, the political action committee of the Michigan Corn Growers Association (MCGA), today announced its endorsements for candidates seeking seats in the Michigan Senate and Michigan House of Representatives in the November 3 general election.

The PAC reviewed candidates running for legislative office with a focus on issues affecting Michigan corn growers, agriculture and rural communities.

“Decisions made in Lansing have a direct impact on the ability of Michigan farmers to operate, invest in their farms and remain competitive,” said Matt Smego, senior policy director for the Michigan Corn Growers Association. “Our goal throughout the process is to make sure candidates understand the issues facing corn growers and the importance of a strong agricultural economy to communities across Michigan.”

“MI Corn PAC takes its endorsement process seriously and looks closely at candidates’ understanding of agriculture and the issues that affect farmers every day,” said Scott Lonier, chair of MI Corn PAC. “This year’s endorsements include candidates from both parties and from communities across the state. Agriculture is not a partisan issue, and our approach reflects that.”

MI Corn PAC endorsed the below candidates for state legislative offices. Additional endorsements will be announced in coming weeks.

Michigan House of Representatives

MI Corn PAC is the political action committee of the Michigan Corn Growers Association. MCGA is a grassroots organization of grower members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production. The association conducts policy and advocacy work in Lansing and Washington, D.C., on issues affecting the economic viability of corn farmers, including regulations, trade agreements and legislation.

MCGA works exclusively on behalf of Michigan corn growers.
